I was going to send you an email yesterday, so that you would have an opportunity to read it before you wrote back to me today, but then I read an updated article about that missionary who got mauled by the lions at the zoo in Guatamala a couple of months ago, and it's like everything else just left my head... he had to have his arm amputated! Just promise me, no Guatamalan zoos, ok??
Yes, I agree, we are probably done with the DearElders in this
country... in fact, I am going to remove that option from your blog
right now....
Dear Elder will still work for those of us who want to use it, and
because you are a POUCH mission, it is still free. Instead of faxing
it to the MTC and delivering it to your mailbox, they print it and
deliver it to the mail POUCH that gets mailed to your mission home.
How it gets from your mission home to you, I am not sure. The How-To's of Communicating with Your Mother needs to be among the top priorities when you arrive, ok??
I'm hoping the additional Express Mail package arrived before noon yesterday, as promised, with your dad's iPod, mini photo albums, SD card... We really have a LOT of decent music, you know? It took me awhile to put together, and it was hard to delete some stuff off the playlist because there wasn't room. I'm definitely going to get you another device and fill it soon.
I'm so excited for you! Since Elder Patterson is your companion, you travel with him, right? Is it just you two? Or will there be a group? Are you assigned to a new, less green companion when you arrive?
Dr. Hartvigsen told us yesterday (while Shane and I were there for our becoming-all-to-regular Friday date with the dentist) that with his three sons, the first, there were no airport restrictions (pre-9/11, I guess). With the second and third, he went to the airport, even though he wasn't supposed to, and with his youngest, he wished that he hadn't... he said that it was just uncomfortable standing with him there in the line, knowing he was breaking the rules. But Heather told me when we were leaving that he slipped the youngest son a cell phone, haha!! And none of his kids even left the country.... I'm still debating. And waiting to hear back from you about it. I think that if we didn't live SO close to the airport, it wouldn't be an issue for me. What if we go to the airport on Monday, see YOU, but don't let you see US...? Haha, can you imagine Shane and me trying to play secret agent in the SL International Airport? It would probably be begging TSA for a strip search :)
Wilder found the 'Pitch Black' just down the street at that Chevron on North Temple & Redwood, there were eight bottles, and HE bought them all, four for you and four for him :)
Don't forget to take lots of pictures, and seriously, just flip
through them while they are still in the camera and jot down some
notes about them before you send the card.... "Elder So and So"...
"Doing something at something..." "Eating dinner with the So and So family...." , whatever, etc, etc... And when you get computer time today, please explain those pictures of the guy who appears to be walking on the wall and floating in the air....
Gonna say goodbye now, hoping you have time to read this and will
write to me again today. I love you.... :) Mom
