Fortifying Work

04/01/2013

Well I guess I should keep you informed.... Those two kids got
baptized, but the mom got mad for some reason and decided not to take them to church on Sunday... so they didn't get confirmed members...

I'll be honest, it's super painful. I'm tired of stuff like that
happening, because it isn't the first time. So we're just going to
work. Start fortifying the branch better for when new people do come, because then they can have a good group of members that are going to take care of them.

It's almost like an orphanage... if you have kids that don't have any
support and they start going to an orphanage that doesn't have the true capacity to take care of the kids.. they aren't going to survive.
I'm not saying that we're all toast down here and the branch is a
failure, just saying that we have some things to do :)

I'm going to Bahía again tonight... Another leadership conference.
And I get to be on the bus with Elder Perkins... that is going to be
fantastic.. :)

This was a pretty rough week. We've had a hard time being able to
teach... a few little problems in the house, but we resolved
everything and we are re-creating the strategy... :)

I love you mom. I hope there is a package for me when I get to
Bahía. And I'm going to write to Walker now... Bye!!!

Go, go, go...

(excerpt from Mom's letter)  Shane and Wilder went to the credit union to deposit some money for you, and a woman ran into them with her car in the MACU parking lot! Shane said he was in the drive-thru, and she tried to get around him, and her side mirror crushed his tail light. And then she wouldn't give him her insurance information because she didn't want her insurance rates to go up, so he insisted on calling the police, and then she insisted on calling him names. Finally (after the police came and took a report), they exchanged insurance info, and agreed to meet over at Auto Zone, where they ordered the replacement part that he said he could install, and she paid for it, and he said he would not involve her insurance company as long as the part fit properly and everything worked out. And then he drove back to MACU and made your deposit!

That issue with the truck and the lady paying for the tail light seems like something that would happen here in Argentina. When I was going to Bahía from Santa Rosa, all of the missionary luggage on the bus was overweight and just so we didn't take anymore time so the bus could leave, the bus driver said that we could just pay the kid that loads the stuff up 60 pesos instead of 200 pesos in the office, and we were on our way.... But Shane's story is better, haha.

This week we had 4 investigators from the Familia Campos... And we found more new investigators this week also.. 16... We gotta go go go go go...

This Wednesday there is a leadership conference so us four leaders are going, and apparently Elder Viñas of the 70 is coming also, so this is going to be pretty good.

And then I will see if my Reeses Puffs have arrived :)

We are trying to help at least 5 people to be baptized.. We could use the prayers...

I hope Uncle Robert gets better.

Love  you Mom.. Chow!!! :)

Viedma!

So yeah, about 20 minutes ago, I just arrived in VIEDMA my new area. Don't you love how on some random Monday, I all of the sudden am in another part of the country? haha. OH and get this--I had another traveling adventure... at two in the morning, about 50 miles outside of Santa Rosa, the bus broke down. We had to wait until 6:30 in the morning for another bus, that already had people in it, to come get us. And then when I arrived in Bahía, I had to get on another bus that took me to Viedma. I was the only one to go to Viedma and when I got here, there were no missionaries that were there waiting for me because nobody let them now when I could have been arriving... I thought it was funny. Go to the map and look at where Viedma is in relation to Santa Rosa...

I am sending you pictures right now... Some are from yesterday, eating lunch with the Familia Loza, some at the house with the sunset, and some at the terminal, and then some when I arrived in Viedma with the big river... I love this place already... :)
